The prime mandate of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is to design, develop and lead to production state-of-the-art sensors, weapon systems, platforms and allied equipment for our Defence Services. A number of products and technologies have been developed as spin-off, which are also beneficial with regard to industrial and public welfare, in addition to the national security.

 

During last five years (01 April 2011 - 31 March 2016) DRDO has successfully completed 248 projects in the following categories:

Series of steps announced by NHAI to remove Hurdles for Faster Execution of Projects

Ministry of Road Transport & Highways                                03-May, 2016     12:45 IST Ministry of Road Transport & Highways announced few basic measures to improve speed of execution of road projects under National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). To speed up the projects, NHAI has delegated powers to its Regional Officers for hiring of equipment and laborers up to Rs.10 lacs per project , to demolish structures that fall within the right-of-way of the project. As some of the contracts had no provision for demolition of such structures, there would often be protracted correspondence between the contractors, Project Directors and NHAI headquarters before these could be removed, often leading to delay in execution of projects . 05-May-2016 16:41 IST Women Participation in Scientific Research and Development Department of Science And Technology (DST) initiated exclusive schemes to enable women to pursue a career in Research and Development (R&D) in Science and Technology (S&T) only in the year 2002. Before that sporadic attempts had been made in this direction and hence only a few women were engaged in R&D in mainstream science. One of the major reasons for this anomaly leading to gender gap in scientific R&D was the break in career that many women had to face due to familial compulsions like marriage, child birth, looking after old or ailing parents, children's education and so on.
