Secretary level review and status of Avian Influenza H5N8 in Wild Migratory Birds and Poultry 

The Secretary DADF, Shri Devendra Chaudhry has reviewed the overall situation of Avian Influenza H5N8 in the country. Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi have not reported any mortality of birds.  On 27.10.2016, only one mortality in wild bird was reported from Sanjay Jheel, Shakti Sthal, New Delhi.  The control and containment operation is over in Rajpura, Distt. Patiala, Punjab. Surveillance is being carried out.

 2.  The State Governments have been directed to be vigilant and ensure the surveillance for the disease and to take all bio security/ preventive measures

3.  The State Government of Kerala has initiated control and containment operations from 26-10-2016 at epicenter village Ramankary and Thakazhy, District Alappuzha and  culling process is in operation.

4.  One Scientist from Southern Regional Disease Diagnosis Laboratory (SRDDL), Bangalore has been deputed to Kerala as a Central Observer to oversee and guide on the control and containment operations.

5.  The situation is under control and there is no need to panic.

Series of steps announced by NHAI to remove Hurdles for Faster Execution of Projects

Ministry of Road Transport & Highways                                03-May, 2016     12:45 IST Ministry of Road Transport & Highways announced few basic measures to improve speed of execution of road projects under National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). To speed up the projects, NHAI has delegated powers to its Regional Officers for hiring of equipment and laborers up to Rs.10 lacs per project , to demolish structures that fall within the right-of-way of the project. As some of the contracts had no provision for demolition of such structures, there would often be protracted correspondence between the contractors, Project Directors and NHAI headquarters before these could be removed, often leading to delay in execution of projects .
