Employment under Skill Development Scheme

India has seen a strong growth in skill development space due to efforts of NSDC. According to the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy, the Government has set up National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) as a Public Private Partnership entity to promote private training providers to set up Skill Development Centres across the Country. Private training providers are assisted financially in the form of loan to set up Skill Development Centres across the Country. State/Union Territory-wise details about the skill training reported and placement done except Pradhan Mantri Kausal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) during the last three years     (2013-14 to 2015-16)Further, opening of new Skill Development Centres is a continuous process.

Besides, Government has launched Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) on 15th July, 2015 which is a reward based, demand driven scheme aiming to benefit 24 lakh persons with training of 14 lakh fresh entrants and certification of 10 lakh persons under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). The trainees are given monetary reward under the scheme after successful completion of the skill training. NSDC is the implementing agency for PMKVY. Sector-wise break-up of the persons enrolled for skill training under PMKVY and persons trainedThe training partners are incentivised under the scheme for facilitating employment of youth trained in their centres under the scheme.

Series of steps announced by NHAI to remove Hurdles for Faster Execution of Projects

Ministry of Road Transport & Highways                                03-May, 2016     12:45 IST Ministry of Road Transport & Highways announced few basic measures to improve speed of execution of road projects under National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). To speed up the projects, NHAI has delegated powers to its Regional Officers for hiring of equipment and laborers up to Rs.10 lacs per project , to demolish structures that fall within the right-of-way of the project. As some of the contracts had no provision for demolition of such structures, there would often be protracted correspondence between the contractors, Project Directors and NHAI headquarters before these could be removed, often leading to delay in execution of projects . With this delegation of power to ROs NHAI will be able to make encumbrance free land available more speedily to the concessionaire/contractors as laid down under the concession agreement or contract.
