President of Maldives urge strengthening relationship with India to counter terrorism

During the recent visit of the President of Maldives to India on 11th April, 2016, the Government of Maldives highlighted the need for capacity building in view of their concerns on counter terrorism. Both sides reiterated their commitment to coordinate efforts to counter terrorism and radicalization and enhance cooperation in counter terrorism operations, intelligence sharing and capacity building. Besides a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Combating International Terrorism, Illicit Drug Trafficking and Enhancing Bilateral Cooperation in Capacity Building, Disaster Management and Coastal Security was signed between India and Maldives on 12th November, 2011.
