Railways to Dispose Solid Waste Through Sewage Treatment Plants; Two Pilot Projects Announced

Railways have proposed a pilot project for disposal of municipal solid waste generated at railway terminals in an environment friendly manner, including conversion of waste to energy. New Delhi and Jaipur Railway Stations have been identified for setting up pilot plants. Quantum of energy generated will depend upon the technology adopted for the pilot plant. Bio gas or electricity are the two possible forms of energy to be generated from these plants which would be utilized for suitable services at/near Railway Station
